Alliance Fund Announces 2014 Grant Awards

In January 2014, the LGBT& Alliance Fund awarded $54,796 to 15 regional nonprofit agencies to benefit Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Straight people in our community. Since 1999, the LGBT&S has awarded 129 grants to more than 54 different organization totaling $588,062!

Winners in this years’ round of grants include:

  • • LGBT Behavioral Health Coalition of Southern Arizona for “Let’s Get Better Together Conference Keynote Address”
  • • Southern Arizona Aids Foundation (SAAF), for
    • • Sexual Health Education Program,
    • • Project ALLY, and
    • • MSHAPE (Men’s Sexual Health and Empowerment Program)
  • • Tucson Jewish Community Center, for the Tucson International Jewish Film Festival.
  • • PFLAG Tucson 2014 Scholarships
  • • Wingspan/Southern Arizona Gender Alliance, for Camp Born This Way, a empowerment and educational camp for transgender and gender diverse youth.
  • • ACLU of Arizona for a bilingual campaign for marriage equality.
  • • CODAC Behavioral Health Services, to develop therapeutic curriculum of LGBTQI adults called “Creating Change for LGBTQI Adults.”
  • • HOPE Inc. to hold four Mental Health First Aid trainings for LGBTQ individuals, their families and people who work with LGBTQ communities.
  • • KXCI, for its program “Stonewall Day Celebration”
  • • Our Family Services to provide emergency housing LGBT Youth
  • • Pima Council on Aging for “Cultural Competency Training Using Project Visibility.”
  • • Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault for “Su Voz Vale (Your Voice Counts), a project that will provide therapy for LGBTQ Hispanic male survivors of sexual assault.
